Running around with your squad is a good thing, but it won't help you much if you're approaching fights the wrong way.
Flanking If you see a friend fighting, you should try to flank or attack the enemy from behind. This will force the attacker into a defensive position because he can't cover two sides at once. If you attack him face to face with your ally, the enemy can hit both of you at the same time and even maintain his defense. So try to flank or attack from behind.
Distracting Imagine yourself running ahead of your team towards an enemy group. In this situation, do not directly engage the group! instead, run past the enemies and try to keep them focused on you until your team mates arrive so they can fall into the back of the enemy. If enemy buildings are nearby you also give your team a chance to attack those buildings while they are unguarded.
Healing As a healer, your goal is to stay out of the fight as good as possible. Position yourself behind your allies and in front of you enemies. If you are getting attacked, run into the fight in front of you and hope to lose your attacker in the crowd.
Special abilities During the fight, try to conserve your special abilities for as long as possible. If an ally has just used a special ability on an enemy, do not use yours and wait for the next best opportunity instead. This way you have a better chance of surviving multiple fights because your team has saved up some abilities.
